The truth of the matter is that any wall siding is only as good as the installation. The better the contractor the better the chances are that you'll be happy at the end of your project. Whether you're using Dryvit, Finestone, Sto, Synergy or any other brand, the success of the installation lies on whether the applicator knows how to do the damn thing. Therein lies the problem. We have every Tom, Dick and Harry selling EIFS inspection certification courses and not enough hands on training programs for real cement masons. I guess the money is in selling inspections.
Luckily there are some stucco companies that implement training programs to keep abreast of the technological changes in the industry. That, in my opinion is huge.

What kind of damage can be caused with EIFS over a steel framed building? Is it just as likely to have problems the same as wood framed building?
Metal is far superior to wood for many reasons but two of the big reasons are the fact that bugs don't eat metal and metal doesn't rot.
When used with Densglass or a cement board, nothing beats metal for EIFS applications.
I was a believer in metal framing until I was tasked to intrusively inspect metal framed planters with 3 coat stucco in a 5 story steel structure. The underlayment was installed improperly as was the planter box liner. The result was rusted steel framing and structural steel framing due to water intrusion. The deteriorated light steel framing was so damaged that it crumbled and could be pulled out with little effort. The damaged areas were repaired and replaced as a result of the intrusive inspection. Any framing material will suffer if the moisture barriers are not installed correctly. Bugs don’t eat steel, but steel rusts and so requires proper protection.
